CHRISTIAN SCHOOL will host
its annual rugby carnival on
August 24 featuring the cream
of the South Coast's young
Six matches over five hours will
feature SHCS fronting up against
Illawarra Grammar School,
Illawarra Christian School and
Nowra Anglican College.
The competition will be fierce, and the
rugby intense, but the real winner is you.
All you have to do is turn up while you enjoy a crisp
Highlands day with a thick rug and a steaming cuppa as a
day of riveting rugby beckons.
Afterwards, the rest of the weekend is yours as you
peruse everything the Highlands has to offer. Follow up the
Rugby Gala Day
morning's rugby with a glass of wine, an art exhibit, or pay
a visit to Bowral's exquisite Corbett Gardens as it gears up
for Tulip Time.
As Southern Highlands Christian School does not play in
a regular season competition, the school is gearing up to
achieve a second title in this carnival.
"It's a day when sport and socialising comes together,"
SHCS coach Trevor Norman says.
"The boys are keen to dig in, as are the other schools.
Since we started this seven or eight years ago this has been
a fantastic way for the school to have greater partnerships
with schools from the South Coast.
"We're hoping parents of those schools will make the trip here
and support these boys, and enjoy the Highlands as well."
The Bowral Blacks and Bundanoon Highlanders exemplify
the Highlands' strong rugby tradition.
And if art, craft and wine isn't your cup of tea, then
continue your rugby morning into the afternoon with a game
at Eridge Park or Bundanoon Oval.
